Department of History Education

Introduction

The Department of History Education started as the Department of Korean History Education in 1973 and was reorganized as the Department of History in 1989. Since then, the Department of History was renamed as the Division of History and Culture in the Faculty of International Culture, renamed as the Department of History in 2006, and reorganized as the Department of History Education, College of Education in 2016.

The customized educational program for students in the Department of History Education is as follows.

Step 1. Major and Academic Programs
- A historical and cultural exploration (Once a semester)
- Academic seminar, ‘Sadamje’ of the department of History Education

Step 2. Strengthening the teaching capacity of prospective teachers
- Class demonstrations in three major subjects per semester.
- Strengthening the teaching capacity with middle and high schools.

Step 3. Specialized Programs for Focused Preparation for the teacher appointment exam.
- Value up & CKU Fresh talk
- The academy for concentrate on the teacher appointment exam(Monthly Sessions)

Department of history department constantly strive to train history teachers with a warm heart that connects past, present, and future.

Educational Objectives

The goal of the department of history education is to cultivate competent history teachers who have historical awareness and consciousness to cope wisely with the problems that will arise in the present and future.

For this purpose, the following detailed objectives are set.

  1. Students will learn about the history and cultural heritage of Korea and the East and West, and will be equipped with specialized knowledge in the field of history.
  2. Students will learn and utilize history teaching methods to prepare for future education.
  3. Students will develop the civic competence of pre-service teachers who reflect on their own lives and the lives of others, actively participating in addressing today's pressing issues.
Careers after Graduation

Many graduates from the Department of History Education are responsible for middle and high school history education as in-service teachers and are active in various fields such as research institutes, museums, and public institutions in each field based on their historical consciousness and educational qualities.

    Government and Public Officers, and Curators of National and Public Museum
